While it's true that any literate person can write a story, in truth it takes more than grammar and spelling to tell a good tale. It's one thing to come up with a good idea, and it's entirely another to express it in words that readers can relate to.
Luckily for us writers, there are some basic rules of storytelling that have been codified over the years. Contrary to popular belief, attending a writing class will not stifle your creativity; instead, it will provide you with the tools you need to express yourself effectively.
Below is a list of courses I can recommend.
- Arvon Foundation poetry course, The Hurst, Shropshire
- Creative writing, Kincardineshire public library
- Original fiction writing, Groucho Club, London
